When looked from a distance the Earth is an Oasis against the vast emptiness of the universe. Every form of life if we know to exist has existed on this world. The earliest evidence of life’s origin is from around 3.5 to 4billion years ago. Yet life didn’t evolve beyond single celled organism until around 600 million years ago for the vast majority of life on this planet, things were pretty simple.
The world we inhabit today is filled up to the brim with a vast diversity of organisms, with some estimates placing the number of species currently alive at 100 million, have you atleast seen ten percent of the total number of species alive?
Things haven’t always been this way nor they will continue to be life on this planet will not exist forever and eventually the very last organism on this planet would die the once life giving and thriving world would be reduced to barren, infertile dead planet.
Since it’s formation the sun has only been growing bigger and warmer. In the next 1 to 2 billion years the sun will become so warm that the earth’s oceans will greatly evaporate they will just boil away. The disappearance of the earth’s oceans will greatly reduce the earth’s oxygen content. Plant life will die out as finding water would become more and more difficult.
Eventually the planet will lose all of its oxygen and with no oceans left to absorb CO2 our planet will keep getting warmer due to the green house effect the temperatures will soar if any of the life forms manage to survive during this period they will likely find shelter deep deep underground where the last of water on earth would be found.
All complex life will cease to exist and all of that will remain are single celled organisms, yet eventually they too will die. In about 4.5 billion years, the sun will become a red giant and will consume our planet and everything in it way. Tbh we have a time bomb at the centre of our solar system.
The chapter of earth will come to end, yet the universe will continue on for many trillions of years after. Long after Earth is dust countless other words will continue to form around other stars some perhaps being home to entirely new forms of life.
Earth is just one world in a cosmos that is home to countless others. Earth’s story may reach its end but there will be countless others to tell..
